6 Clever Ways To Hide Litterboxes

Cats are extremely popular pets, and with good reason. Fluffy is not very cute and lovable. She’s also highly entertaining! Another great thing about kitties is the fact that they are so easy to care for. Your feline pal will clean herself daily, and will discretely do her business in the litterbox. Of course, your pet’s purrsonal powder room won’t do much for your d├ęcor, especially if you live in a small space. Read on as a Woodstock, GA vet offers some advice on hiding litterboxes.

Upcycled Furniture

An old end table or buffet can make a clever litterbox holder. Just cut a kitty-sized door on one side, so Fluffy can get in and out. You can use the main doors for cleaning access.

Kitty Door/Closet

Consider putting the litterbox in a broom closet or laundry room. Install a pet door for Fluffy. (Note: this one probably isn’t a good idea for people who are renting.)

End Table

Get an end table with four legs, and drape a piece of pretty fabric over it. Arrange the fabric so that your furry friend can access her bathroom easily. Put the litterbox under the table. You may want to put a pet-safe plant on top of the table. This will secure the fabric and help filter the air.

Folding Screens

Set up a folding screen in a corner, and put the litterbox behind it. Leave enough space for your furball to get in and out. You may want to hang sheets of thick plastic on the screen to protect it.

Custom Pieces

Look online for furniture that doubles as litterbox holders. This option may cost more, but you will end up with a beautiful, functional piece that was specifically designed for people with cats. You can even buy plant pots that are actually litterboxes!

Many trunks and ottomans make great litterbox holders. Plastic storage totes can also work. As with the end table option, you’ll need to cut a little door on one side for your furry companion.

Choosing the right location for the litterbox is also important. Choose a quiet area that Fluffy can access easily. Don’t put it in a spot that is too hot or too cold.
